1 min read

In our latest b2b social media marketing blog we spoke about the importance of researching your social media audience and finding out where they are engaging.

An important next step once you have found where your audience tend to congregate, is listening to what they are saying. Below we outline our top 4 social media listening tools that will save you time and money and give you greater insight into your competitors, customers and market conditions.

1. Google Alerts

An oldie, but a goodie. Google alerts scour Google to monitor content that you have asked to be alerted about. Simply enter a search query for the topic you wish to monitor (and your email address) and you’re good to go! Google alerts are great for keeping an eye on competitors, industry news, customer feedback and new and relevant online content.

2. Socialmention

Socialmention is a great tool very similar to Google Alerts but specifically for social media. Sign up to receive free daily email alerts of your brand, company, people, marketing campaigns, relevant news story or competitor activity.

3. Technorati search

Simply put, Technorati was initially launched to help bloggers be found. It collects highlights of online conversation and distributes them via email. The first blog search engine, Technorati indexes more than a million blogs. Simply search your chosen topic and scroll through top influencers, stories, opinions, photos and videos.

4. Inbox Q

InboxQ delivers a real time stream of questions related to your business, products, industry or general interests from Twitter directly to your browser. InboxQ is downloadable via Chrome or Firefox.
